what is a drug test kit?

A drug test kit is a screening device which operates in a similar manner to a pregnancy test. In fact drug test kits use the same technology called "lateral flow immunoassay".

The difference is that a drug test targets (tests for) specific drug types (or drug metabolites).

Although this sounds (and is) quite technical, fortunately the results are extremely easy to read and understand.

how accurate are drug tests?

A drug screening kit will provide an indication of the presence of a drug or group of drugs in a sample. It will not provide any indication of the concentration of the drug or how recently the drug may have been consumed. It will provide a visual indication that the drug concentration in the sample is either above or below the test kit's cut-off level configuration.

Drug test kits can test a single sample for one drug class or multiple drug classes simultaneously. Modern drug testing kits are customised to specific cut-off levels (different in each Country) and are remarkably accurate.
